Can I get riding lessons at the centre?

At the centre we prefer to teach out in the countryside rather than in the traditional school environment. We find that this approach is more enjoyable and fun for the customers, plus there is more to learn outside of a school. We charge £65 per hour for a one-to-one lesson trek (Teenagers & Adults only). Please note we cannot do private lessons at Weekends or during the School Holidays.

Do you cater for Disabled Riders or people with Learning difficulties?

Yes, we have a number of horses all suited for Disabled Riders or people with learning difficulties.

What is the youngest you take on treks?

We take young riders from the age of 4 (for children with no regular riding experience we only advise a 1 hour trek).

Do you take Complete Beginners?

We prefer that you are at least able to walk and control a horse independently or have had at least one riding lesson off lead rein.  We can offer a private lesson to get you started but we cannot do these in school holidays or weekends.

We can cater for complerte beginners (we lead them on foot) but not in large groups if they are all complete beginners. We only do a maximum of 1 hour for complete beginners.

What weather conditions cause a ride to be cancelled?

We ride out in all weather, if it’s raining we still trek out. We reserve the right to cancel treks at short notice due to any adverse weather conditions. If ground conditions are slippy or wet, then we may need to slow the pace of the ride for safety reasons.

Is there any specific clothing I need to wear?

A riding hat is essential; Anyone wishing to use their own helmet can do so provided it complies with the current health and safety requirements, if it doesn't then you will need to hire one of our helmets. We can provide you with a riding helmet which complies with the latest health and safety requirements at a hire charge of £1 per riding helmet, we also charge £1 per person to hire high visibility vests.

We would always advise riders to ensure they wear full length trousers; boots with a low block heel on, Suitable clothing depending on weather conditions e.g., warm clothing for winter and waterproofs in case of rain. For our gentlemen riders it is advisable to wear tight fitting underwear. Anyone wearing sandals will not be permitted to ride due to health and safety reasons.

I am unable to wear a helmet due to religious headwear. Can I still take part?

Yes, however we strongly recommend that you wear one of our helmets. However, we do not want to be discriminatory, and should you decide not to wear a helmet for religious reasons then we will just require you to complete an additional disclaimer form for our insurance purposes.

Is there a weight limit for your riders?

Yes, our weight limit is 13 stone, but please call as we may be able to cater for riders slightly over this weight. Please note we ask customers to be very honest about their weight for the welfare of our horses. If we suspect that you exceed the agreed weight limit, we reserve the right to ask you to be weighed on our weighing scales on site and this could result in you being refused to ride.

Yes, we have a brick built Mounting block suitable for all.
